A Message to District 63 Toastmasters
Thank: 1. to express gratitude to; give thanks to: He thanked her for the gift. 2. To hold responsible; credit: We can thank the parade for this traffic jam. From www.theFreeDictionary.com
I could be concise, for a change, and use one word: Thanks! Or, I could double the output by saying “Thank you.” Finally, I could cover all the bases with “Thank you, all!”
However, since it is me, I must use more words, many more words. Attending the District 63 Spring Conference in Chattanooga left me wanting to thank people, a LOT of people that deserve a LOT of both of the above definitions.
Thank you to Charlie Rosenquist and Mike Roberts the co-chairs of the conference. Mike served not only as the co-chair but is the Area 31 Governor as well. He apparently likes to stay busy. Charlie, on the other hand, is trying to get her picture in the dictionary next to the word overwhelming. She agreed to be co-chair last spring. Then she ran for, and was elected to be Lieutenant Governor of Marketing. With Ann Robey’s passing in February Charlie moved up to Lieutenant Governor of Education and Training. She spent the week prior to the conference with other parents of soldiers who were being deployed to Afghanistan. Did I mention that for most of the year leading up to the conference she was working two jobs?
Thanks to all of the Past District Governors that attended the conference, helping us celebrate 50 Years of Sharing the Magic!” These past leaders have capitalized, bold-faced, italicized and underlined the D in DTM. They built the District that we current Toastmasters enjoy. And they were a lot of fun to talk to, joke with and learn from.
Gratitude and credit go to all of the committee chairs, committee members, and any and all of the various people who helped make the conference a success.
Finally, I want to extend a rousing thank you to all who attended the conference. I was able to meet a lot of new people, reacquaint myself with others and have a lot of fun with both groups. Ann Robey’s theme for the district, Share the Magic, was evident throughout the entire time I was privileged to spend in Chattanooga
